Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) generate significant heat and electrical noise. Designers must plan enclosures carefully.

Design Steps

  1. Thermal Sizing: Calculate heat dissipation inside the control panel and size ventilation fans or air conditioners accordingly.
  2. Cable Routing: Separate power cables from sensitive control/analog wiring to prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  3. Harmonic Filtering: Install line reactors to protect VFD rectifiers and improve power quality.
